What is DailyCandy?
DailyCandy is a free daily e-mail newsletter and website, the ultimate insider’s guide to what’s hot, new, and undiscovered. To learn more about us, click here.
How do I sign up?
Glad you asked. You can sign up here.
Do you send the same story to every city every day?
No. Each city edition receives a different DailyCandy story every day. This enables us to run articles about products, services, and events that are specific to each edition’s region (or, in the case of the Everywhere edition, things that are available online) — and ensures that subscribers to multiple editions never receive the same story twice.
I have a good idea for DailyCandy. Who can I tell?
We love good ideas and hearing about them from our readers. You can use our contact us page to send us your ideas. If you’re writing to us about a product (a great bag, a pair of earrings), please include a description of it. An editor will review your idea and contact you if we want to know more.
Are stories paid for?
No way. We maintain an extremely strict line between editorial and advertising. The editorial staff decides what to write about. No one can pay to be featured in a DailyCandy editorial. As much as we like diamonds, we do not accept gifts. And we do not give preferential treatment to advertisers. We write about what we like, what we think our readers will like, and what we think will create buzz.
So how do you make money?
Through advertising: banner ads and sponsored links at the top or bottom or along the side of your DailyCandy e-mails, and what we call dedicated e-mails, which we occasionally send out on behalf of our advertisers. These e-mails, which are entirely about one client’s product or service, are always clearly labeled “Dedicated E-mail.” Here’s a more detailed explanation of our editorial policies.
Are there jobs available at DailyCandy?
Check out our jobs page.
Do you offer internships?
We sometimes offer editorial/sales/tech internships on a short-term basis, for school credit only. Check out our jobs page.
When is DailyCandy coming to my city?
We are working fast to bring DailyCandy to more cities across the U.S. and around the globe. We try to go where demand is greatest. But we can’t go everywhere, and that is why we created the Everywhere edition, which is perfect for everyone, no matter where you live.
Will you share my e-mail address or personal information with others?
Absolutely not. Rest assured that any information you give, including your e-mail address, is kept strictly confidential. For more on our privacy policy, click here.
Can I just sign up for sample sales?
No. There is no way to get DailyCandy sample sales only. Sample sale listings are just a small part of DailyCandy. We run them whenever we find sales of interest. There may be a week between sample sale items, or there may be many months. It all depends on how many quality sample sales are out there.

E-mail

I signed up but I haven’t gotten my email yet. What’s the deal?
Occassionally, DailyCandy e-mails will get blocked or marked as Junk Mail by your e-mail program. To ensure the delivery of your DailyCandy e-mail, follow these instructions for adding DailyCandy to your safe sender or whitelist.
How do I unsubscribe from one or more editions?
Change your e-mail address, modify the editions you are subscribed to, or create a new password on your account page.
How do I change my e-mail address?
Visit your account page with your old e-mail address and use the form to change it to the new one. This will transfer your subscription and personal archive (if any) to the new address.

Web Site

How can I search for an article?
You can search for an article by using our search engine. Just type in a few words, press “search”, and you’ll get a list of articles that contain those words. You can sort the results of your search by publication date or by relevance.
How does My Archive work?
My Archive is a place where you can store all your favorite DailyCandy articles. Just click “save to my archive” at the bottom of any article to add it to your list of favorites. You can visit your favorite articles by clicking the “My Archive” link at the top of any page.
I forgot my password. How can I get it back?
To retrieve your password, go to the password retrieval page.
What are cookies? And why does DailyCandy need them?
A cookie is a small piece of information that a web site stores on your computer. It can’t contain viruses or anything else that might harm your computer.

Certain parts of the DailyCandy web site need to know who you are, so we use a cookie to identify you. Only the web site that gave you the cookie can see it, so you don’t have to worry about other sites seeing your information. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information on how we use information that you provide us.

Please see your web browser’s help section for information on how to enable cookies.

DailyCandy Deals

What is DailyCandy Deals?
DailyCandy Deals is a listing of excellent sales and special offers that are exclusively for DailyCandy subscribers. Think 20 percent off a necklace or bag you read about on DailyCandy Everywhere. A two-for-one deal on a gadget you’ve been dying to check out. Free samples of a new lipgloss. The kind of shopping that’s impossible to resist. (In other words, just your thing.) You won’t find these offers anywhere else (that’s the whole exclusive part), and you can trust that they’re good, because they’ve been handpicked by DailyCandy editors (and no one can ever pay for that privilege).
Who can get in on the Deals?
Anyone who subscribes to an edition of DailyCandy has access to Deals. Not a DailyCandy subscriber? Why not? Sign up now.
So, just to confirm, I have to be a subscriber in order to get in on Deals?
Yep. DailyCandy Deals are exclusive for subscribers. (Don’t you feel special?)
How can I get DailyCandy Deals?
You sign up for it. Instead of coming to DailyCandy to find Deals, they will be delivered to you, every Tuesday, just like your regular DailyCandy e-mails.
Does DailyCandy Deals charge service fees?
No way. We wouldn’t call it a Deal if you had to pay for it. (Would you?)
How often will DailyCandy Deals be updated?
Possibly every day. DailyCandy Deals will be sent to you via e-mail, but true obsessives might want to check in more often.
How long do Deals last?
The offers can be redeemed for up to a month (in most cases). But the promotional codes will only be on DailyCandy for one week, once they are off our site, we won’t give them out again. So grab it while it’s hot!
Are these paid placements?
Not unless they are labeled as such. Editor’s Picks are just that — things the editors picked. We select these offers carefully and tell you only about sales we know you’ll love. (We hope you know how picky we are.)
Does that mean Dedicated Deals are paid for?
Yeah. (Someone’s gotta pay the bills!) Deals labeled Dedicated Deals are paid for by our advertisers and are clearly labeled as such. (Just like Dedicated E-mails.) Want to learn more about our editorial policy? Here’s the 411. Want to advertise on Deals? Please click here.

DailyCandy Mobile

What the heck is DailyCandy Mobile?
DailyCandy Mobile is a group of services that allow you to experience the genius of DailyCandy anytime, anywhere on your cell phone or mobile device.
What are the different ways I can use DailyCandy Mobile? I hear variety is the spice of life.
Right you are. There are three ways to use DailyCandy Mobile: you can browse our mobile website, DailyCandy ToGo; you can subscribe to Text Me Candy, a short version of that day’s DailyCandy to your cell phone or mobile device; and you can search DailyCandy via text messages with Find Me Candy.
How much will all of this cost me? I’m not made of money, you know.
Like your regular DailyCandy e-mails, DailyCandy Mobile in all its wonderful forms is a free service — though your mobile provider’s standard messaging rates will apply.

DailyCandy Mobile: Text Me Candy

What is Text Me Candy?
Text Me Candy is a wireless mini version of your DailyCandy subscription. Simply sign up for the edition(s) you’d like to receive on the go each day, then enter your mobile number and provider. We’ll send an abbreviated, 160-character version of that edition’s item straight to your mobile device.
Can I get Text Me Candy for any DailyCandy edition? I’m a glutton for information.
Every U.S. edition except Deals and Travel has one.
Why isn’t there a DailyCandy London version? The English did invent the language, you know.
We are planning to launch Text Me Candy for London in the near future. We’ll make an announcement when we’re ready to launch.
Who can get Text Me Candy?
If you can receive text messages, then you can get Text Me Candy. We support all of the major carriers, but if you don’t see your carrier listed, please let us know.
How can I find out if my phone can receive text messages?
Give it a try. If it doesn’t work, you can find out whether your phone can receive texts by contacting your mobile provider; most providers let you send a text message from the website to any phone with their service.
Why isn’t my mobile provider listed? I feel so left out.
Text Me Candy is a new service that is constantly being updated. If you don't see your mobile provider listed, please let us know.
I’m having trouble getting DailyCandy text messages.
Check to see if your carrier is listed above and check that your phone is capable of receiving texts. If you need more help, please let us know.
Why doesn’t DailyCandy’s name appear on my phone when I get a DailyCandy text message?
We send most our text messages through our 328646 (DCTOGO) shortcode. Readers that we can't reach through our shortcode may receive messages from a number that usually begins with “101”, or togo@dailycandy.com.
I have T-Mobile U.K. but I can’t receive texts.
T-Mobile U.K. customers can currently use this service, but you must enter your number as if dialing from overseas, e.g., +447777123456. We are working on offering Text Me Candy to all mobile phones in the U.K.
What’s an alias?
Some mobile providers allow you to pick an alias for your phone to prevent unwanted text messages and e-mails. (It’s a spam-blocking tactic for the phone.) For instance, Cingular allows customers to block messages sent to [yourcellnumber]@cingularme.com or your mobile number but will deliver messages sent to an alias you’ve set up.
I hate sitting by the phone. When will I receive my DailyCandy text messages?
Your DailyCandy text messages will be delivered around 1 p.m. local time per edition. Everywhere and Kids texts will be delivered around 1 p.m. EST. You will usually receive one message every weekday and will never receive more than two texts per subscription per day. (The bonus text might be an extra sale or a new restaurant or an ad.)
Not that I’d ever want to, but how do I unsubscribe from DailyCandy Text Me Candy?

There are two ways to unsubscribe: on our website or via text message.

  • Online: You can adjust your subscriptions on the My Account page on our website.
  • Via Text: Reply to any DailyCandy text with the word STOP to end your subscription. If you have more than one subscription and want to unsubscribe from all of them, reply with STOP ALL.

DailyCandy Mobile: Find Me Candy

What is Find Me Candy?
Find Me Candy is a service that allows you to search via cell phone or mobile device for DailyCandy picks in your current location — no matter where that happens to be. Send a text to 328646 (DCTOGO) specifying the category and location you’re interested in, and we’ll text you with an answer.
Where do I send my text message to?
Just send a text to 328646 (DCTOGO) specifying the category and location you’re interested in, and we’ll text you with an answer.
Is there any particular format my text message should be in? I like to get things right.

Please write the category, followed by the address and city, without any punctuation. If you get an error message asking you to check the address just add in the state (for some reason Alexandria is cool, but Arlington needs that VA). Oh, and no need to capitalize. (Yeah, yeah. We never thought we’d see the day when we encouraged that, either.) Some examples:

  • shop 584 broadway new york
  • spa 1200 granville ave los angeles
  • food west 20th & 10th ave new york

DailyCandy will send you the information for the place closest to your location.

What are the categories I can request information about?

You can search any of the following categories:

  • food
  • restaurant
  • bar
  • salon
  • shop
  • spa
I can’t remember all that. (I did a lot of drugs in the ’90s.)
No problem! Just text “help” to 328646 (DCTOGO), and we’ll send you a list of the categories.
Can I abbreviate the name of my city? Texting “Philadelphia” while driving can be injurious to your health.

Sometimes. You can abbreviate Los Angeles and San Francisco as long as you add the state, though NY is good all by itself (go figure). So, for instance:

  • food west 20th & 10th ave ny
  • shop 11708 san vicente blvd la ca
  • shop 3200 steiner sf ca
How long will it take for you to answer my text? No offense, but I don’t have all day.
Usually no more than a minute. How’s that for speedy?
What if I don’t like the answer you send me? I’m picky.
Jeez, relax. Just reply “more” to our text, and we’ll send you another suggestion.

Advertising

How can I advertise on DailyCandy?
Just click here and fill out your info. A sales representative will contact you shortly.
If I advertise on DailyCandy, does that mean I won’t be covered editorially?
No. Like any good media company, we maintain an extremely strict line between editorial and advertising. Whether you advertise with us makes no difference. We write about what we like, what we think our subscribers will like, and what we think will cause a buzz. No exceptions.
